Preggo Picts

Hey everyone - it's LaLa.

I've taken over Agi's blog and computer for a night and wanted to post some pictures of how big her belly is.

There is a major cuteness warning in effect!!

The first picture (which totally makes my heart just melt) was taken tonight before bath and bed time with Maggie!
The second picture was taken at Mi Tierra downtown this past week during a Girls' Night Out.

Enjoy!!

I think I may be a bit too pregnant for this!

Here are a couple of photos of stage 3-A of the tomato project. I only planted four out of the 12 or so plants I have. I just got plum tuckered out! I had to push myself to go ahead and plant that last guy and now I just want to go lay down. Last year I did it all in one afternoon, but with a passenger it's a bit more challenging. I hope to have them all in by the end of the week to take advantage of the rain we are supposed to have coming in. Anyhow, here is one photo of some of the plants I actually planted, and the other photo is of tomatoes still in their containers, awaiting planting.

The lovely green things in this photo are a rampaging spearmint plant that survived the winter and a mysterious bunch of lettuce that I vaguely remember letting the girls plant the seeds for in the fall. I never expected to see any results, but lo and behold, lettuce!

Tomatoes 2010

I forgot to take a picture of stage 1, but here is a picture of stage 2; after I transplanted the 'maters from the tiny little containers they came in to bigger containers to "harden them off" before planting in their permanent homes. Our tomato guy, Keith from Heirloom Tomatoes of Texas had a really bad season, so the tiny little plants you see are his; while the bigger plants are ones he bought from other growers.
I'm determined to be really organized this season and keep a journal of what I'm doing, what is working and what is not, and which plants are doing well...
We'll see how it goes!

3rd trimester!

Wow, this pregnancy is speeding by while at the same time totally dragging! Yesterday we hit the third trimester and the tracker says:

In other news, here is a little story that happened yesterday...
Zofia was complaining that her tummy hurt from the time she woke up. She didn't eat a lot of dinner the night before, so I chalked it up to hunger and proceeded to get everyone ready to leave for school and rush out the door with their breakfast "to-go". Just barely down the street, Zofia threw up a bit, right into her bowl of oatmeal (sorry for the visual). So, of course, we turned right around and came home.
After we got everything cleaned up Zofia said, "Boy, you sure learned your lesson Mommy!"
I said, "What lesson is that Zof?"
"Don't put me in the car if I say I have a tummy ache!"
DOH!

No veggie this week

Sadly, even though i just started week 27 of this pregnancy, there was no corresponding vegetable/size comparison update on the baby tracker. There was, however, a uterus size comparison update...

Wow!

Also, the baby has the hiccups...such a funny feeling.

A few random photos

I must have been inspired by my sister's recent post, and finally downloaded the photos which have been sitting in my camera since early October. Here are a few...

Bouncer

Zofia found a tiny worm on the floor in the house. She escorted it outside and while she was finding a place to put it I overheard her telling it, "My house is not your home."

Update

Ok, I know I have neglected this blog throughout my sister's visit here, and have no excuse. Happily, she posted regularly, so there are plenty of posts to read about our trip to San Diego and Maggi's visit here with the twins over at My Sister's Blog. Meanwhile, just a quick update on us...
I'm still only about 8 weeks pregnant. It seems ridiculous to know this early, it really makes the pregnancy seem to last so much longer. I guess this is how I do it, though, since I knew really early both other times too. I sort of can't fathom the women who don't know until they are 3, 4 or more months along.
I feel good (meaning nauseous and tired all day long) and my pants are already getting tight. I found a box of maternity clothing in the back of the closed, but alas it's all summer stuff and the weather here is mostly in the low 60s. I remember that my mom brought back the clothes I lent to Maggi about a year ago, so hopefully she will be able to find them at her house. Otherwise, poor me, I'll just have to go shopping! ;-)
We are very excited about our upcoming trip to LA for Isaac & Lizz's wedding, and are planning on staying an extra day to take the girls to Disneyland. Should be exhausting and fun. I also just go the idea into my head that I'd like to take a mini-vacation with just Roger sometime during the 2nd trimester (I've never been to New York?), but I'm not sure we will be able to figure out the logistics.
Anyhow, that's it for now and I'll leave you with a bit of conversation I overheard earlier today between my daughters...

Zofia: I love you!
Maggie: I love you too!

Hee hee!!!

New Religion

Roger just walked into the girls' room and found them both under a comforter on the floor...
Roger: Where are the girls?!
Maggie: Here I am Daddy. I'm God!
R: You're God?!
M: Yeah, and this is heaven.
Zofia: Come die with us, Daddy! We're dead and this is heaven!

BTW - I just found out that the cause of death was being eaten by a lion. Apparently, at first he didn't eat their heads, but then he did.

Why?

Zofia: Mommy, why did God make us with footprints?
Me: Why do you think, Zofia?
Zofia: Mayyyyybeeeeeeee, so that we don't get lost?

and then....

Maggie: Mommy, why did God make "God's bandaids"? (scabs)

Decisive

Me: Maggie, what do you want to eat?
M: I haven't decided.
Me: Well, you need to decide.
M: I was already deciding until you disturbed me!

Definitions

Zofia: Mommy, a woman and a lady are not the same thing.
Me: Really, Zofia? What is the difference between a woman and a lady?
Zofia: A woman is a fat lady and a lady is a skinny lady.

Piggie tails

This is the first time that Maggie kept her pigtails in longer than a couple of minutes. Usually, she takes them out as soon as she gets in the car, but today she kept them in all day! Happy Mothers' Day to me!

Harvest time

Patience

We were at a restaurant last week and ordered Maggie a lemonade. About a second after the waiter left, Maggie said, "Where is my lemonade? I waited as hard as I could and I can't wait any longer!"

ps. when you read her quote, remember that she does not say her Rs yet, so they come out like Ws...

Springtime is here!

Hurrah! The girls and I planted our spring garden over spring break. We've got lots of different herbs, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, squash and beans. Here are some photos of the garden when we first planted it almost three weeks ago, and some taken this morning. We've been getting a nice bit of rain and it is so gratifying to see the plants thriving. We also planted a lemon tree and a Satsumo orange tree which already have some little fruit on them!

A video and a funny...

First the funny:
Me: How did I get so lucky to have two such wonderful girls for my daughters?
Maggie: Because we're just kids and we can't leave.

God love 'er!

Anatomy

Roger accidentally scratched Maggie on the leg when he was putting on her jammies tonight; and Maggie said, "Daddy, you hurt my skeleton!"

Wierd science

Zofia asked me today, "Mommy, why does cheese melt, but chicken doesn't?"

Future architect?

Zofia came downstairs at Babcia & Dziadzio's house yesterday and said, "Mommy, did you know that the floor upstairs is the ceiling downstairs?"

Hay fever

Maggie explained to me today that Uncle Andre's pool turned green because it had "an allergy", but then he fixed it.

a long time coming...

Here are a couple of recent funnies.

Zofia: I don't wanna go to sleep. I'm not tired.
Mommy: I know, Honey, but you need sleep to be rested and healthy.
Zofia: I don't need sleep. I never sleep.
Mommy: You don't?! What do you do all night with you your eyes closed?
Zofia: That's not sleep, that's a really long blink.

Zofia: Mommy, why can't we go to the library first?
Mommy: Because Grandma and Grandpa are waiting for us, and it would take us too long to get to the library and then we wouldn't have very much time to look for books...
Zofia: Yada, yada, yada.
